Donation Projects
To Date Andy’s Books for Kids’ goal for 2012 is to donate new children’s books or the monetary equivalent to the following projects:
- Golden Apple Foundation’s “I Know I Can” Program
In April, 2013, Andy’s Books will donate $5000 toward the purchase of approximately 800 copies of the book, “I Know I Can.” Read More… - Lewis Lemon Elementary School, Rockford, IL
Donate a book to every student in the school for their Spooky Reading Event, an evening of reading activities designed to encourage parental participation in their child’s educational experience - Great Bridge High School, Chesapeake, VA
Donate copies of two books, The Unwholly and 13 Reasons Why for an freshman English class in a program called Freshman Transition. This program targets freshmen high school students who are at risk for dropping out of high school. Using teaching materials outside the traditional curriculum the teachers involved in the program have been successful in encouraging students to stay in school. The problem has been finding the funds to purchase these materials as they are not covered by the school’s budget. The assistant principal of the school found Andy’s Books on line and asked if I would be interested in donating these books as the teacher who would be using them has been particularly effective in this program and the principal did not want an inability to purchase the books to be the limiting factor in the success of this class. - Machesney Elementary School, Machesney Park, IL
Andy’s Books will once again donate a book to the students and staff members at Machesney Elementary School for their One School/One Book project in March. - Olson Park Elementary School, Machesney Park
Olson Park will participate in the One School/One Book project this year and Andy’s Books will be providing the book for this project for all the students and staff - Kishwaukee Elementary School, Rockford
Every student at Kishwaukee Elementary will receive a new book as a part of their Family Literacy Night in May. - Brookview Elementary School, Rockford
For the fourth year Andy’s Books will be a sponsor in Brookview Elementary School’s Family Literacy Night by donating a new book to each child in the school - Orton Keyes Boys and Girls Club, Rockford
Andy’s Books will be supplementing the after school program at Orton Keyes by donating new kids books and by providing structured activities geared toward enhancing reading skills
